General Election

Leaders-debate-006.jpg

Thursday 6th May is an important day in politics, with the General Election being held across the country. Individuals will vote for who they want to elect to be Prime Minister and be in charge of the country. I am sure you have seen plenty of things about the election campaign written in newspapers, on television and possibly even discussed what is going on in your class with your teacher.

The three main parties are Labour, the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats. The leaders of these parties are Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Nick Glegg.

The current party which are in power are Labour and have been in charge of the country for 13 years…as you can see elections don’t happen very often.  It is great to be studying in London with Malvern House as you have the opportunity to experience election day.

Results will be announced tonight and I am sure you will not want to miss who wins and I am sure you will be able to discuss with your friends, in your class about the events as they unfold, it will also be a great way to practise your English.
