Celebrate St Georges Day

st_george_slaying.jpg

Each year the 23rd April is St Georges Day in the UK, a celebration of English heritage! Like many other countries around the world that celebrate their patron saint or have other days, for example the closest to us is Saint Patrick’s day for Ireland, St Georges Day is the UK’s.

St. George's Day in London remembers Saint George, who according to legend was a soldier in the Roman army and killed a dragon to save a princess. Saint George is the patron saint of England, as well as the Scout Movement. There will be plenty of celebrations today around London and it will be a nice break from studying in class to go to a local pub and enjoy the English celebrations.

Have fun celebrating
