For me, last week really felt like the first week of summer in London. Malvern House teachers James, Emily and yours truly took 61 Malvern House students to Hadleigh Castle and Leigh-On-Sea (right) in Essex.
In short, to where the Thames meets the sea! We got the train from Fenchurch Street, but had to stop two stops before our destination, because of engineering work on the rail tracks! This always happens when travelling around London on the weekend. So all 64 of the Malvern House crew jumped onto a double decker bus, which we took over (!!) and were driven down to the village!! It was like a Magical Mystery Tour!! We then walked to the castle, through the hills and countryside, with everyone stopping to take pictures of the beautiful horizons and more. Some people had picnics up by the castle, others waited until we got back to the village for lunch. It was the warmest day of the year so far, and it was a wonderful experience had by all!! In the end, we all ended up on the beach, drinking and relaxing before the journey home…a break from studying in London and a good excuse for students to take a break from their courses.
On Monday, Malvern House Film Night screened ‘Paranormal Activity’ at Piccadilly. There were 60 Malvern House students present plus teachers Zaki (who is leaving, so goodbye Zaki – we will miss you!!!), James, Katrina and myself. The scream at the end of the film was deafening!! It was a scary night for some, and rumour has it that Katrina is still having trouble getting to sleep…
Till next time,
Niro xx
