Now, I'm sure you all know that Friday 13th in England is supposed to be a day of back luck and spooky occurrences. As the wonderful wikipedia will tell you, a fear of Friday 13th is called friggatriskaidekaphobia. Now try getting your tongue round that!
However, being a brave English course student, don't let this put you off. There are many exciting things planned for this weekend, and you mustn't let the wonderful British summer weather, or Friday 13th stop you. Those of you who are off to Scotland have a thrilling weekend in store in Edinburgh, visiting the Royal Castle and also the opportunity of visiting the breathtaking Lochs (that's Scottish for lakes) and mountains.
However, if you are staying in the capital this weekend, do not despair! As I am sure you know, from studying English here in London, there are always many other exciting events here. Tonight is the infamous Hat Party at Pacha, which runs from 10pm till 5am.
Don't forget to get your voucher from your teacher or the study room, which will reduce the entrance fee from £10 to a fiver. Also wear a funky hat and it could win you a prize!
Also, if jazz is more your thing don't forget that it is the Canary Wharf Jazz festival this weekend. On from 3pm in Canada Square Park all weekend, entrance is free. Perfect for a sunny afternoon of jazz and chilling with friends.
Now, back to Friday 13th. Do you believe it brings bad luck? How about superstitions in your country? Is Friday 13th supposed to bring bad luck? Or perhaps it is Tuesday 13th, as in Spain?
Well have a great weekend whatever you decide to do!
